FED JUDGE’S VERDICT: ETHICS SCHOOL FOR ATTORNEY
Why did a California district judge leapfrog the bar to fine firm Lozano Smith and attorney Elaine Yama and send her to ethics classes? Try these choice cuts from the judge's 83-page decision:
"[A] bad-faith attempt to mislead the court..."
"[O]bscure the real facts of the case…"
"[O]bstruct and/or harass the plaintiff…"
"[W]in a victory that was clearly unjustified by either the facts or the law…"
For the whole story, read Carolyn Elefant’s entire post here. Elefant, for one, says she is inspired to take on her next difficult opposing counsel. "Remember that sometimes justice does prevail," she writes. "It sure did, with a vengeance, in this case."
