Are Associates Overpaid? The Votes are In ...

Bruce MacEwen reports the results of a recent poll on the topic:  Are Associate Salaries Justified?  Roughly 72 percent said yes, which leads me to believe that most of Bruce's readers are lawyers because I don't see how many in the general population would find $135,000+ for a kid just out of law school to be at all reasonable.   Like us, Bruce is a lawyer and he does believe that there's "ample justification for paying associates handsomely" on one of two theories:  either the "efficient wage theory" or, Bruce's own belief that paying associates lots of money to work like dogs prepares them for what partnership will be like.
