Good News for Real Estate Lawyers

Just in time for the holidays, Larry Bodine has good news for real estate lawyers: The real estate market is looking up. Mortgage rates dropped below 6 percent, with fixed rates as low as 5 percent. That means more buying and selling -- and of course, work for lawyers who handle closings and other real estate transactions. The federal government is working on a plan to push mortgage rates even lower, and if that happens, Bodine predicts it will "unleash a surge in home buying as long-waiting families and investors see the low rates as a green light to buy."

For those of you who do real estate work, are you seeing the effects of lower rates just yet? Or are folks still skittish? And do you agree with Bodine's assessment that the real estate market stands on the verge of a turnaround?
