Sotomayor Roundup, Day Two

As these Google news search results show, coverage of the Sotomayor hearings has been almost unrelenting. Yesterday's session was largely devoted to introductory remarks from the senators on the judiciary committee. Now, day two of the Sotomayor hearings is just about complete, with the post mortems from this morning's session rolling in.

The WSJ Law Blog covered today's morning session, which included a discussion of the Supreme Court's decision in Ricci (a Title VII discrimination case), Heller (a Second Amendment case) and Roe v. Wade.

The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times has a quick interview update from Tony Mauro who observes that Sotomayor's background with cameras in the courtroom (they are permitted at the 2nd Circuit) and her measured demeanor may marginally improve the prospects for cameras at the Supreme Court in the next few years. Mauro also predicted some pushback from Republicans during the afternoon session in response to Sotomayor's explanation of her "wise Latina" comment. Thus far, however, the Live Blog coverage from SCOTUS Blog doesn't show much more discussion on that point, though the hearings are still ongoing as of this writing.

We'll keep you posted on the hearings and the outcome.
