Justice Roberts Appearing Soon in Spokes of Your Bicycle
I'm not going to say that what follows
below is among the geekiest things I've seen because I don't want the High Court issuing any writs of mandamus against me or anything.
So without any
commentary, let me tell you about "Supreme Court baseball
cards."
Via the National Law Journal comes news of these new cards, created by "the unconventional law review Green Bag." The first of the "Supreme Court Sluggers" series commemorates Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. as the Court's "pitcher." As the NLJ's Tony Mauro reports:
Roberts
is shown in the image of Mordecai "Three Fingers" Brown, the famed
Chicago Cubs pitcher who, like Roberts, grew up in Indiana. In the
background is legendary umpire Bill Klem -- a nod to Roberts' 2005
statement that the Court must strive to be a "fair and unbiased umpire."
On the back of the card, Mauro notes, "are a blizzard of stats, including
the number of his opinions, dissents and citations by name by lower
courts." Cards on other justices past and present are due
to be rolled out in the months ahead.
Collect them all!
