Sign of the Times: Law School as a Path to Reality TV
Mark Bennett, on his Defending People blog, posted yesterday about a Houston Chronicle interview with Erica Rose, a rising 3L at the University of Houston Law Center.
Ms. Rose (pictured, left) is no ordinary law student, however. She's a Houston socialite, offspring of a well-known local plastic surgeon, and already has two reality shows under her belt: "The Bachelor" and a new VH1 show, "You're Cut Off."
The Q&A from the interview that hooked Bennett was the following:
Q: What's next for you?
A: After graduating from law school, I plan to pursue a career
in entertainment law. I'd love to have my own show like Judge Judy.
Entertainment + Law = Entertainment Law. Brilliant! Sad as it is, despite today's big news about the legal market adding jobs, I have to agree with Bennett's assessment: "The funny part? Ms. Rose's aspirations are more realistic than probably
90% of her classmates'."
