The Florida Bar's Latest Pet Peeves About Lawyer Ads
Florida lawyers should be prepared to suppress any animalistic urges, at least when it comes to advertising. As this AP article (11/2/02) reports, under Florida's newly issued ethics rules, lawyers must now obtain prior approval for television and radio commercials (apparently, the rules don't apply to Weblogs). In addition, the Bar has reiterated that animal images such as "sharks, wolves, crocodiles and piranhas" are inappropriate for lawyer ads (as well as pit bulls) -- but the American eagle can be used.
